KABUL: The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP) said in a statement today that around 4,045 carats of Panjshir’s emeralds worth $226,560 have been sold.
According to the statement, the emeralds were sold transparently during a bidding ceremony attended by government officials and traders.
The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has called the sale of minerals through bidding an important step for investors and increasing revenues.
After the Islamic Emirate took over, minerals extracted from the country’s mines are being sold through bidding process.
