KABUL: The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said in a statement today that a delegation from the Ministries of Agriculture and Trade of Uzbekistan has arrived in the country’s northern province of Balkh, to discuss the expansion of cooperation between Kabul and Tashkent in various fields.
In the meeting, which was attended by Mujib-ur-Rahman Omar Akhundzada, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, and governor of Balkh Mullah Mohammad Yousuf Wafa, the Uzbek delegation has discussed the development of cooperation in agricultural exports and imports, research and promotion, reinforcement of the Amu River banks, establishment of laboratories and standard processing facilities for fruits and vegetables, pesticide application, and resolving traders’ issues.
It is expected that the delegation will also sign several Memorandum of Understandings in these areas with the Afghan side.
Meanwhile, efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock underway to transfer agricultural technologies for the mechanization of agriculture in Afghanistan.
