KABUL: Extensive wildfires occurred in the forests and hills surrounding Tel Aviv, the capital of the country, The Times of Israel said today.
This is the second time in a week that severe heat and strong winds have led to widespread fires, causing financial damage and the evacuation of communities in the capital’s outskirts.
Currently, fires are active in at least five areas of Tel Aviv, with communities such as Neve Shalom, Baka, Ta’oz, and Nachshon evacuated, while others have received evacuation orders.
Additionally, the process of collecting and evacuating tourists from parks has begun, and the main highway between occupied Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, along with at least four roads leading to it and the railway line, has been closed.
It is reported that 63 firefighting teams and 11 aircraft are engaged in battling the fires, but the intense heat and winds have hampered their efforts.
Last Wednesday and Thursday, nearly 2,500 acres were burned in similar fires, and 100 firefighting teams managed to control the blazes within 20 hours.
