MoU signed with five NGOs to provide returnees with facilities

KABUL: The Ministry of Industry and Commerce signed five Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) worth $5.2 million with non-governmental organizations.

The MoUs have been signed between Nooruddin Azizi, the acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, and representatives of the NGOs, the ministry said in a statement today.

According to the statement, the agreements aim to facilitate the economic integration of migrants in the country, create job opportunities, promote sustainable growth, and rebuild family economies.

The signing organizations are committed to providing technical skill training, small business support for returning men and women, distributing tools for work, and offering cash assistance to start small businesses.

They will also establish local savings groups, provide access to microloans, offer business consultations, and support marketing for entrepreneurs, with special assistance for women entrepreneurs, youth, and those recovering from addiction.

Approximately 20,500 individuals are expected to benefit directly from the agreements, in the Kandahar, Helmand, Maidan Wardak, Kunduz, Jawzjan, Logar, Nangarhar, and Kabul provinces.

This initiative comes as thousands of Afghan migrant families are being expelled from Iran and Pakistan and returning to the country.
