KABUL:Cardinal Robert Francis has been elected as the 267th Pope of the Catholic Church.
He received at least 89 votes, surpassing the required number from the 133 participating cardinals to succeed Pope Francis.
The American cardinal, who has also been granted the title of Pope Leon XIV, called for dialogue between and peace in his inaugural address following his election.
It is noteworthy that he has been chosen as Pope following the death of the former Pope Francis.
