KABUL: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have said that the two countries will continue their collaboration to strengthen stability in Afghanistan.
In a joint statement, the leaders expressed hope that Afghanistan will become an independent, neutral, drug-free, united, and peaceful nation.
According to the statement, Beijing and Moscow are committed to continuing their bilateral and multilateral cooperation regarding Afghanistan.
The two leaders emphasized the effective role of regional formats and frameworks, such as the “Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan’s Neighboring Countries,” the quadrilateral meeting of China, Russia, Iran, and Pakistan, the Moscow Format, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization concerning Afghanistan.
The Chinese and Russian presidents met in Moscow on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Russia’s victory over Nazi Germany.
