Trump: Hope release of “Eidan Alexander” will be end of war in Gaza

KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope that the release of an Israeli-American citizen from Hamas could signify the beginning of the end of the conflict in Gaza.
In a post on X today, Trump described the release of Eidan Alexander as a significant event and thanked Qatar and Egypt for their mediation efforts.
He stated, “I hope this is the first step toward the necessary final moves to end this violent conflict.”
Reports indicate that Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas official, mentioned that the release of the American citizen was part of efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza.
Recently, the Hamas movement has announced that serious discussions are ongoing with the U.S. regarding ending the war in Gaza.
