KABUL: The Acting Minister of Public Health, Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali, met with the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) and his accompanying delegation, here in Kabul, the ministry said in a statement today.
According to the statement, services provided by the WHO, addressing challenges in the health sector, strengthening the health system, enhancing the capacity of health workers, eradicating polio, providing cancer treatment equipment, supporting hospitals treating infectious diseases, and attracting health aid have been discussed in the meeting.
Minister Jalali emphasized the need to address existing issues, stating, “We must work to resolve all challenges that hinder the expansion and strengthening of the health system.”
WHO officials assured that they would continue to support Afghanistan’s health sector and attract aid to the country.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health has prioritized expanding health services, standardizing service delivery, and achieving self-sufficiency in the health sector.
