Zelensky: I am waiting for Putin in Turkey on Thursday

KYIV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has welcomed the proposal for direct negotiations from Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating that he will personally be waiting for Putin in Turkey this Thursday.
In a post on his X on Sunday night, he emphasized that killing serves no purpose and expressed hope that this time the Russians would not seek excuses.
He stated, “We are waiting for a complete and lasting ceasefire to begin tomorrow, to create the necessary conditions for diplomacy.”
Based on indirect talks between Ukraine and Russia mediated by the U.S., a 30-day ceasefire is set to be implemented starting today, May 12, 2025.
This comes as the Kremlin has reported that Putin has proposed starting direct negotiations for a permanent resolution to the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.
