KABUL: The head of Doctors Without Borders, Mikael Lippi, has stated that the organization is committed to ongoing efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality in Afghanistan.
He made the remarks today during a meeting with Dr. Mohammad Naeem, the deputy minister for financial and administrative affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Hafez Zia Ahmad Takal, the head of information and public relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, Lippi assured that the organization is working to build the capacity of medical personnel in Afghanistan.
Praising the humanitarian efforts of Doctors Without Borders in Afghanistan, Mohammad Naeem emphasized that the Islamic Emirate is paying special attention to the health sector in the country.
He highlighted that, based on this focus and the directives of the leadership of the Islamic Emirate, the construction of health centers is ongoing in all districts.
The statement also mentioned that expanding healthcare services in Afghanistan and providing healthcare facilities for returning migrants were key topics of the discussions.
The Islamic Emirate has facilitated a suitable environment for the activities of international organizations in the health sector over the past nearly four years.
