KABUL: The Indonesian military has confirmed that at least 13 people were killed due to an explosion in an unexploded munitions depot in the country.
According to the Jakarta Post, military spokesperson Kristomi Sianturi said that the deadly incident occurred in the Garut area of West Java, Indonesia.
Sianturi stated that the victims include 9 civilians and 4 military personnel.
He emphasized that the explosion took place while dismantling collected munitions, with two parts already destroyed and work ongoing on a third.
This marks the second explosion in a munitions depot in Indonesia within the past year, with the first incident occurring on the outskirts of Jakarta, the capital.
