KABUL: A delegation of the Islamic Emirate, during their visit to Uzbekistan, has gifted 4,000 square meters of marble extracted from the mines in the Chisht Sharif district of Herat to officials in Uzbekistan.
The Balkh governor’s press office said in a statement on Tuesday night that the marble, loaded onto 16 trucks, was gifted during a ceremony in the joint market of Surkhandarya province for use in the Imam Bukhari shrine.
Ismatulla Ergashev, Uzbekistan’s special representative for Afghanistan, noted that relations between the two countries in cultural, social, political, and economic sectors have strengthened since the Islamic Emirate regained control.
Meanwhile, Mullah Mohammad Yusuf Wafa, the governor of Balkh, said that Balkh and Bukhara have historically been recognized as shining examples of knowledge and enlightenment in the East throughout history.
