KABUL: A representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), Cinzia Salvador, along with Jamshid Tanoli, head of the organization’s emergency services, visited the Torkham border crossing to assess health services provided to Afghan migrants.
WHO in a statement on its X account said that the purpose of was to monitor urgent health efforts at the Torkham crossing for Afghan returnees.
“From a 20-bed emergency hospital supported by the World Health Organization to an International Organization for Migration transit center, life-saving care is being provided for returnees at ground zero,” WHO said in the statement.
The WHO expressed gratitude to the health service providers assisting Afghan migrants at Torkham.
It was noted that upon returning from Pakistan, Afghan migrants receive necessary support in various sectors, including health, and are then transported to their respective destinations.
