MAZAR-E-SHARIF: A coordination meeting hosted by the Badakhshan provincial authorities was held in Faizabad, attended by governors, police commanders, and intelligence chiefs from nine provinces in the northern, northeastern, and northwestern regions of the country.
According to a statement from the Balkh governor’s press office on Friday, the meeting was attended by senior officials from Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunduz, Baghlan, Samangan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Sar-e Pul, and Faryab, Mawlavi Noorullah Noori, acting Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs, senior officials from the 217th Omari and 209th Shaheen Corps, as well as deputies from the Ministries of Interior and Mines and Petroleum.
During the meeting, the collaboration and coordination of the mentioned provinces regarding the implementation of the esteemed Amir al-Mu’minin’s decree on combating drugs and preventing corruption were discussed.
Mawlavi Mohammad Ayub Khalid, the governor of Badakhshan, stated that in order to eradicate opium cultivation in four districts of the province, it is essential to initiate incomplete development projects that engage the local population and provide job opportunities.
The security officials of Badakhshan emphasized the need to increase checkpoints at entry and exit points and throughout Faizabad city to ensure security, prevent wrongdoing, and apprehend drug traffickers.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the security of the province’s mines through contracted companies, resolving to take urgent steps to ensure transparency in legal mining operations.
