KABUL: The first phase of the Kharwar Dam maintenance project in Logar province has been completed and the second phase of the project has begun in the presence of Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, the acting Minister of Water and Energy, the ministry said in a statement today.
KABUL: Maintenance work on the 2nd phase of Kharwar water dam, worth 35 million Afghanis, has been kicked off in Logar province, the Ministry of Water and Energy said in a statement Wednesday.
According to the statement, the maintenance work of the first phase valued at 31 million Afghanis, and the second phase worth 35 million Afghanis.
Mawlavi Abdul Latif Mansoor, the acting Minister of Water and Energy, has highlighted the vital importance of the Kharwar Dam, stating that the completion of Phase One and the initiation of Phase Two of the project is a positive step towards effective water management in the country.
Work on the first phase of the dam began last year, and Phase Two is expected to be completed and operational within the next five months.
According to the Ministry of Water and Energy, the Kharwar Dam, with a height of 36 meters and a length of 140 meters, will irrigate 6,000 hectares of agricultural land and benefit approximately 13,000 families.
