Disagreement over Gaza ceasefire; Hamas accepts proposal, Israel and US reject

KABUL: A Palestinian official has stated that the Islamic Resistance Movement of Hamas has accepted a ceasefire proposal from the U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff for Gaza; however, Israeli officials have denied these reports.
According to Reuters, an Israeli official rejected the claim that the proposal came from Washington, stating, “No Israeli government can accept this proposal.” He also noted that the proposal contradicts Israel’s conditions.
On the other hand, Witkoff himself mentioned that what Hamas presented regarding the exchange of prisoners and a ceasefire is not acceptable.
He added that the proposal currently under discussion is not one he has put forward.
The remarks come amid international efforts to end the fighting in Gaza and facilitate a prisoner exchange.
