IEA delegation participates in 35th meeting of Middle East Railway Association

KABUL: Mawlavi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, the Deputy Minister of Railways, represented Afghanistan at the 35th meeting of the Middle East Railway Association (UIC RAME) held in Iran.
The ministry stated that Sahibzada highlighted significant advancements in Afghanistan’s rail sector over the past year, ongoing projects, and future plans. He emphasized Afghanistan’s geographical position as a crucial corridor for connecting the region.
During the meeting, he also discussed bilateral cooperation with Dr. Jabbar Ali Zakir, the head of Iran’s railway authority, focusing on increasing transportation along the Khaf-Herat line.
The Ministry of Public Works regarded Afghanistan’s active participation in this meeting as a commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and playing an effective role in the region’s transit connectivity.
