Strategic city of “Sorab” in Balochistan falls temporarily to Baloch Liberation Army

KABUL: The strategic city of Sorab in Balochistan, Pakistan, has temporarily fallen to armed individuals known as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), international media reported.
According to ABC News on Friday night, dozens of armed individuals stormed government institutions in Sorab, killing a local official, Hedayat Boleedi, and setting fire to several government buildings and the homes of officials.
Hafizullah, the police chief of Sorab, mentioned that the armed individuals fled the area after looting a bank and upon the arrival of reinforcements.
The Baloch Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement, stating that its members had taken control of key government buildings.
Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, condemned the attack, noting that the assailants targeted women and children.
A spokesperson for the Balochistan provincial government attributed the attack to India; however, the Indian government has not yet responded to these claims.
The city of Sorab, known for its vineyards and apple orchards, is considered an important area in Balochistan, connecting the Xinjiang region of China to the Gwadar port on the Arabian Sea through various road and railway routes.
