Araghchi announces new chapter in Tehran-Cairo diplomatic relations

KABUL: Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, has stated that diplomatic relations between Tehran and Cairo have entered a new phase after many years.

He made the remarks, in a statement on his X following his meetings with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, in Cairo.

He noted: “The level of political interaction and cooperation, and more importantly, the degree of trust and confidence in the relationship between the two countries, is unprecedented.”

Araghchi emphasized that Iran and Egypt, as two influential regional powers with ancient cultures and civilizations, share a common responsibility to maintain peace and stability in the region.

During this visit, he performed evening and night prayers at the Imam Hussein Mosque and had “fruitful meetings” with three former Egyptian foreign ministers, in addition to dining at a restaurant in Cairo’s historic Khan el-Khalili area.

Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi arrived in Cairo two days ago on an official visit.
