Contract for feasibility study, detailed design of Lora Dam in Kandahar signed

KABUL: The acting Minister of Water and Energy, signed a contract worth 102 million Afghanis with a private company for the feasibility study and detailed design of the Lora Dam in the Arghistan district of Kandahar province.
According to a statement from the ministry on Monday, based on the contract, the Afghan-German Bakhtar Company will conduct the feasibility study and detailed design of the dam within 18 months in exchange for the mine.
The Lora Dam is expected to provide improved irrigation for local farmlands, support groundwater recharge, and potentially contribute to small-scale hydroelectric power generation in the province.
