KABUL: Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate, held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterparts Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, the ministry said in a statement today.
During the conversation, Minister Muttaqi strongly condemned the Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory and expressed Afghanistan’s solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Minister Muttaqi characterized the targeting of Iranian military and residential areas by Israel as a blatant violation of international law and an infringement on Iran’s national sovereignty.
He also announced Afghanistan’s readiness to facilitate the safe transfer of remaining Iranian pilgrims from Saudi Arabia to Iran.
According to the statement, Araghchi appreciated Afghanistan’s stance in condemning the Israeli attacks on Iran and welcomed Afghanistan’s commitment to assist in the safe transfer of Iranian pilgrims.
He described Afghanistan as a friendly, empathetic, and deserving neighbor for Iran.
It is noteworthy that Afghanistan had previously condemned the Israeli attacks on Iran on the first day of the assault as well.
