KABUL: Amid the military confrontation between Israel, supported by Washington and the West, and the Iranian government, U.S. President Donald Trump is set to host General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, in a closed-door meeting.
According to Business Today, an Indian media outlet, the meeting is scheduled for 1:00 PM today in the U.S., while, Islamabad has expressed its support and solidarity with Iran in its conflict with Israel.
The meeting between Trump and Munir, taking place in the Cabinet Room of the White House without media presence, is seen as a significant moment for high-level engagement between Islamabad and Washington.
The report indicates that differing views between Pakistani and U.S. leaders regarding the war between Israel and Iran may overshadow discussions.
It remains to be seen what topics General Munir will address with the U.S. President.
Pakistan shares a long border with Iran and is one of its neighboring countries.
