Suhail Shaheen meets Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad to discuss trade expansion

KABUL: Mohammad Suhail Shaheen, the Afghan ambassador in Doha, met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani, the Executive Chairman of the Qatar Free Zones Authority.

In a statement on his X Shaheen said today that the discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade and investment between Kabul and Doha.

The issues including cooperation between the Afghan and Qatari Free Zones, facilitating Afghan traders in the Qatar Free Zone, and Qatari investments in Afghanistan’s mining and agricultural sectors have also been discussed.

The statement noted that both parties agreed to send delegations to Kabul and Doha to follow up on the discussed topics and sign a memorandum of understanding related to these matters.

Qatar is one of the Gulf countries that maintains close political, commercial, and economic ties with Afghanistan.
