MAZAR-E-SHARIF: The provincial officials of Balkh said that China will construct a standard cold storage facility worth 230 million Afghanis to preserve fruits and vegetables in the region.
The Balkh Governor’s Press Office said in a statement today that a team of Chinese engineers visited Balkh to begin surveying the site for the cold storage, where they met with Noorul Hadi Abudris, the Deputy Governor of Balkh, and the head of agriculture, irrigation, and livestock of the province.
The Chinese engineers noted that Balkh province is considered the most suitable location for the implementation of the project.
The purpose of the cold storage is to help preserve the agricultural products of farmers and gardeners in Balkh.
The Deputy Governor assured the Chinese engineers of comprehensive cooperation from local authorities.
This comes as the Chinese President emphasized support for Afghanistan in achieving peace, lasting stability, reconstruction, and economic development during the second China-South Asia Summit in Astana last week.
