KABUL: Rajnath Singh, India’s Defense Minister, stated that New Delhi continues its efforts to develop Afghanistan as its largest strategic partner in the region.
Indian media reported today, quoting Singh, who spoke at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in China.
He emphasized that India supports peace, security, and stability in Afghanistan.
Singh noted: “Our immediate priorities in Afghanistan include providing humanitarian aid to the Afghan people and addressing the overall developmental needs of Afghanistan. As the largest regional development partner, India continues to implement capacity-building programs for the Afghan people.”
The Indian military official stressed that India aims to create consensus against global challenges under the slogan “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”
Singh’s remarks regarding Afghanistan come at a time when India recently resumed issuing visas for Afghan citizens after nearly four years in a diplomatic shift.
