KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has called for a pardon or the cancellation of the arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who faces corruption charges, Reuters reported on Thursday morning.
On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump referred to Netanyahu as a “true warrior” and labeled the arrest warrant as “ridiculous.”
He noted, “Netanyahu’s grandmother was a fighter, perhaps like no other fighter in Israel’s history, and the result was something no one thought possible: the complete dismantling of one of the largest and most powerful nuclear weapons in the world.”
According to Trump, instead of punishment, Netanyahu deserves recognition for battling Israel’s “long-standing, very powerful, and clever enemy” (Iran) and for having “gone through hell.”
Netanyahu has been accused of corruption in three cases since 2019, including allegations of bribery, fraud, and abuse of public trust.
Additionally, last year (2024), the International Criminal Court in The Hague charged Netanyahu with “war crimes” for the killing of civilians in Gaza and issued an arrest warrant against him.
