KABUL: Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, the acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriations, in a meeting with representatives of UNAMA, UNHCR, and IOM, discussed the ongoing repatriation process of Afghan migrants from Iran.
According to a statement from the ministry on Sunday, during the meeting, representatives of the organizations stated that over one million Afghans have returned from Pakistan and Iran so far this year.
“UNAMA has launched efforts to mobilize financial resources, while the UNHCR has asked the UN leadership for increased support in addressing the challenges faced by returnees,” the representatives said as quoted by the statement.
Mawlavi Kabir stressed the importance of organizing a trilateral meeting with Iran to address migrants’ challenges, assuring that the Islamic Emirate has dispatched essential supplies and technical teams to ensure that all relevant departments are fully prepared to provide services to the returnees.
