KABUL: Mawlavi Qudratullah Jamal, the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Finance of the Ministry of Information and Culture, stated that the Islamic Emirate holds significant value for the tourism industry and aims to transform it into a major economic sector in Afghanistan.
He made the remarks in an interview with the Associated Press, with the report published today, he noted that last year, 9,000 foreign tourists visited Afghanistan, and in the first three months of this year, 3,000 tourists entered the country to visit its tourist attractions.
He mentioned, “The people of Afghanistan are hospitable and want to host tourists from other countries and interact with them. Tourism has many benefits, and we aim for our nation to fully capitalize on them.”
Mawlavi Qudratullah Jamal expressed hope that revenues from the tourism industry will increase significantly.
“When a foreigner sees the situation firsthand, it fosters trust and connections among people. This development not only contributes to economic growth but also has spiritual and political benefits,” he quoted as saying.
Domestic tourism has also grown due to overall security in the country. During the recent Eid al-Adha holiday, nearly 200,000 citizens visited various tourist attractions.
