Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov visits Kyrgyzstan

KABUL: Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, has officially arrived in Cholpon-Ata city of Kyrgyzstan.

The Russian state-run TASS news agency reported on Saturday night that Lavrov’s visit aims to meet with Kyrgyz officials and participate in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Foreign Ministers’ Council.

According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lavrov is expected to meet with the President and his Kyrgyz counterpart during this visit.

Earlier, the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Lavrov would discuss cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan in various areas, including political, economic, technical, military, and humanitarian fields.

Kyrgyzstan is one of the Central Asian countries with close and multifaceted relations with Russia.
