KABUL: Credentials of Mullah Gul Hassan, the new ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) in Moscow, have been accepted by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The Russian state-run TASS, news said late on Thursday that Andrei Rudenko, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, received the credentials of the new Afghan ambassador.

Russian officials have stated that the formal acceptance of the IEA ambassador will contribute to the expansion of cooperation and relations between Kabul and Moscow.

Mullah Gul Hassan Hassan arrived in Moscow two days ago to assume his post as Afghanistan’s ambassador to Russia.

This comes as the Afghan Foreign Ministry recently announced that the Russian ambassador in Kabul communicated the Kremlin’s decision to recognize the IEA to Mullah Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.
