KABUL: The Islamic Resistance Movement of Hamas has positively responded to the latest ceasefire proposal from the United States regarding Gaza and has expressed its readiness to engage in discussions with Israel to end the ongoing conflict, Reuters reported on Friday night.
According to an official statement from Hamas published on its website, the movement views the proposal “with a positive spirit” and is prepared to implement the agreement reached with Israel.
This agreement reportedly includes the release of Israeli prisoners held by Hamas and the initiation of talks regarding the cessation of hostilities in Gaza.
In its statement, Hamas mentioned that it has completed internal consultations and discussions with various Palestinian factions regarding the latest proposal from mediators to halt the aggression against their people.
The most recent ceasefire proposal, which is set for 60 days, was shared with Hamas by the United States in coordination with Israel late last week.
U.S. President Donald Trump, without detailing the proposal, expressed hope that Hamas would endorse it.
