Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar calls for Afghan exports to be transferred via Baku International Sea Port

KABUL: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, has urged Azerbaijan to facilitate the transfer of Afghan exports through the Baku International Sea Port.
In a statement the Deputy Prime Minister’s office said that Baradar made the request during his visit to the port in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, where he closely observed the transfer processes.
Officials from the Azerbaijan International Sea Port and the railway have assured that they are prepared to transport Afghan industrial goods, agricultural products, and minerals to European markets via Turkey.
They also emphasized their readiness to utilize railway connections through Iran to Russia for the export of Afghan goods.
The statement noted that during this visit, both parties established joint technical committees to assess available facilities and transportation routes for creating joint trade and transit through the port, thereby facilitating Afghan exports.
It is worth mentioning that the Baku International Sea Port, located along the Lapis Lazuli route, currently has a capacity for annual transfers of 15 million tons, with efforts underway to increase this capacity to 25 million tons.
