KABUL: With the increase in the forced deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran, the High Commission for Addressing Migrant Issues has called for assistance from traders and charitable foundations to support returning migrants.
In a statement today the commission noted that while basic services such as water, food, and 2,000 Afghanis in cash are provided for each family member in temporary camps, the number of returnees exceeds expectations.
According to the statement, an average of 20,000 migrants are entering the country from Iran daily.
The Commission has cited the rising number of returnees and the intensifying heat as reasons for the urgent need for assistance from traders and charitable organizations.
Recently, residents of Herat province and local philanthropists have also provided support to returning migrants, offering food and clothing to the best of their abilities.
