KABUL: Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, met with the head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Mi Hyung Park, to discuss various issues related to returning Afghans.
According to a statement from the ministry, Mawlavi Abdul Kabir mentioned that IOM-led agencies are working in Herat and Nimroz provinces, and if necessary, will expand their activities to other areas.
During the meeting, Mi Hyung Park offered land for IOM operations in Islam Qala and Nimroz and shared proposals and ideas regarding the registration of refugees with the Mawlavi Kabir.
The ministry’s statement also noted that Mawlavi Abdul Kabir referred to the review of IOM’s proposals.
He indicated that the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation teams are active along the borders and that there is a significant need for more international assistance to provide services.
Mawlavi Abdul Kabir further stated that the Islamic Emirate has begun providing services to returning Afghans using its resources, and health and other services have reached not only Herat but also Nimroz.
