KABUL: In response to Donald Trump’s repeated claims regarding China’s presence at Bagram International Military Airport in Afghanistan, former U.S. special envoy for peace in Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, has rejected these assertions.
In a statement on his X account on Saturday night said,” I don’t believe the report suggesting that the Chinese Communist Party is now managing the strategic Bagram airbase is true.”
Two days ago, Trump criticized the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan during a meeting in Washington, calling it a shameful moment in the country’s history.
He also claimed that the U.S. should not have lost control of Bagram Airport, which is now supposedly in the hands of China.
The Islamic Emirate has previously dismissed Trump’s claims, stating that no foreign forces are present or in control of any part of Afghanistan.
