KABUL: As a result of heavy rainfall and subsequent flash floods in four provinces of the country significant financial losses, have been inflicted particularly for farmers and orchardists, local rsources reported on Sunday night.
According to local information and images shared on social media, Nangarhar, Kapisa, Panjshir, and Kabul provinces experienced heavy rains and impressive flooding.
Images went viral on social media show young people in the Dara Noor district of Nangarhar working to assist those trapped by the floods.
In the Nijrab district of Kapisa, floodwaters have swept through the local market, inundating homes and shops.
Meanwhile, in the Rukha district of Panjshir, floods have damaged agricultural lands.
Additionally, it has been reported that the heavy rains and drizzle have harmed grape growers in several districts of the Kohdaman area of Kabul province.
The exact figures of damages caused by the floods is still unknown, and investigations are underway.
This comes after the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Department had warned two days earlier about the potential for heavy rainfall and sudden flooding in several provinces.
