KABUL: Doctors Without Borders (MSF) reports that Afghan migrants’ access to healthcare services in Pakistan has been severely restricted due to fear of arrest by police.
In a report, MSF warned that ongoing health restrictions threaten the physical and mental well-being of Afghan migrants.
Some Afghan migrants have informed the organization that, following police warnings about the arrest of migrants, they are unable to visit health facilities.
According to the report, Afghan women are particularly impacted by these restrictions, as they are often required to visit health centers accompanied by a male, increasing the risk of detention.
Dr. Jean Webbing, head of Doctors Without Borders, expressed concern over the continued challenges faced by Afghan migrants in Pakistan.
The announcement of restricted access to health services comes amid recent reports that the Pakistani government has not only reduced visa issuance to one month but has also halted this process for nearly three weeks.
