NATO Secretary General warns China, India, and Brazil: Continued trade with Putin could lead to sanctions

KABUL: Mark Rutte, the Secretary General of NATO, has warned the leaders of China, India, and Brazil about the consequences of maintaining their relations with Russia.

According to Reuters on Tuesday night, he threatened that if these countries ignore this warning and continue their ties with Moscow, they could face harsher sanctions.

Rutte urged the leaders of China, India, and Brazil to convince Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a peace settlement.

He stated, “The message I have for these three countries, especially if you’re living in Beijing, or Delhi, or if you are the President of Brazil, is that you might want to take a close look at this because you could be severely affected.”

The NATO Secretary General also warned that if these three countries fail to persuade Putin towards peace, the current situation could quickly impact China, India, and Brazil as well.

China, India, and Brazil maintain close relations with Russia and are part of BRICS (an association of emerging economies), which has faced significant criticism from the U.S. President following their recent summit.
