U.S. and Indonesia sign multi-billion dollar trade agreement

KABUL: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced the signing of a multi-billion dollar trade agreement with Indonesia.

In a post on his X tonight, Trump described the agreement as a “historic deal,” adding that the accord includes $15 billion worth of energy purchases, $4.5 billion in agricultural products, and the sale of 50 Boeing 777 aircraft to Indonesia.

He noted that this is the first time in history that Indonesia’s market will open up to trade with the U.S.

Trump stated, “For the first time, our farmers, ranchers, and fishermen will have full and unconditional access to the Indonesian market.” Under the agreement, Indonesia will pay a 19% tariff on all goods exported to the U.S., while U.S. exports to Indonesia will be completely tariff-free and face no non-tariff barriers.

The agreement was signed between Donald Trump and Prabowo Subianto, the Presidents of the U.S. and Indonesia, respectively.

Indonesia is one of the largest Asian countries, with a population of 280 million.
