Khalilzad calls the signing of Afghan-Trans railway feasibility agreement a significant step

KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, has stated on his X account that the trilateral meeting between Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan, and the signing of the feasibility agreement for the Afghan-Trans railway, is a significant step.

This agreement was signed yesterday between the ministries of public works of the Islamic Emirate, Uzbekistan’s transport ministry, and Pakistan’s railway ministry.

It was signed in the presence of the foreign ministers of Pakistan and Uzbekistan, with the acting foreign minister of the Islamic Emirate stating that this project is not just a transit route but a primary step towards strategic connectivity.

Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi also emphasized that trust and mutual confidence are the foundation of their relations, noting that Afghanistan should be defined as the connecting point of the region.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the foreign ministers of Pakistan and Uzbekistan, and their accompanying delegations, met with several officials, including the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate, during their visit to Kabul.
