Herat governor leaves for Iran to discuss economic cooperation, issues faced by Afghan migrants
HERAT: Based on the directive of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate, Mawlavi Hebatullah Akhundzada, the governor of Herat Shaikh Maulana Islam Jar, at the head of a delegation has traveled to Iran.
The Herat governors’ press office said in a statement that the purpose of the delegation led by Herat governer is to address the issues faced by Afghan migrants and to discuss economic cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran.
The delegation is set to meet with officials from the Khorasan Razavi province in Iran.
The agenda includes the dignified and gradual return of Afghan migrants, addressing their current challenges, and visiting Afghan refugee camps within Iran, said the statement, adding that expanding economic, commercial, and transit cooperation is another key aspect of the delegation’s agenda during this visit.
This comes at a time when thousands of Afghan migrants are entering the country daily after being expelled from Iran.
