KABUL: Following the establishment of a ceasefire in the southern province of Sweida, recent statistics from a week of unrest indicate that 1,119 people have been killed.
Sky News Arabia citing health officials reported on Sunday night that 427 fighters from the Druze defense units and 354 members of the transitional Syrian government’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, deployed to restore calm in Sweida, have died.
Additionally, 298 civilians have also been killed since the clashes began on July 13. Among the casualties are 21 armed members of Arab tribes loyal to the transitional government and 19 internal security forces who were targeted in Israeli attacks.
In a recent report, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency indicated that several Israeli soldiers have stormed two areas, “Um al-Luqas” and “Al-Rafid,” in southern Syria.
The report states that simultaneously with this incursion, Israeli fighter jets have conducted airstrikes on parts of Sweida in southern Syria.
