Over 100,000 tons of goods transported via rail in past week

KABUL: The Ministry of Public Works has announced that 103,466 tons of goods were transported through Afghanistan’s railways in the past week.
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for the Ministry, said in a statement today that 75,495 tons via Hairatan port, 8,466 tons via Aqina, 12,272 tons via Torghundi, and 973 tons via Khaf-Herat have been exported within one week.
The spokesperson emphasized that these transports included both exports and imports.
Haqshenas added that the Ministry of Public Works is working to increase rail transport within the country.
Efforts to expand railway lines are ongoing, and recently, a tripartite agreement between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan was signed in Kabul to conduct feasibility studies for the Afghan-Trans Railway.
