KABUL: The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said in a statement that 18,200 individuals have been affected due to recent floods in some provinces of the country in the past one month.
According to the statement, in the province of Maidan Wardak alone, the recent floods have destroyed 50 irrigation canals and 885 hectares of agricultural land.
FAO’s statement noted,” The organization is assessing the damages and planning to provide immediate assistance in cooperation with partner agencies.”
While FAO mentioned that floods have impacted people in multiple provinces, it did not specify which ones.
Local officials have reported that during this month, floods in the provinces of Maidan Wardak, Nangarhar, Panjshir, Kapisa, Logar, and Ghazni have caused both human and financial losses.
