KABUL: French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that France will recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly.
Macron stated that this decision is aimed at achieving lasting peace in the Middle East and that France will be the first country among the G7 to take this step.
Palestinian officials have welcomed this decision; however, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has labeled it as “rewarding terrorism.”
The United States has also rejected France’s proposal, stating that it would benefit the Resistance Movement of Hamas.
