40 megawatt polar power project kicked off in Logar

KABUL: The practical work on a 40 megawatt solar power project, valued at $36 million, has commenced in Logar province.

According to Radio Omid, a ceremony held on this occasion was attended by senior officials of the Islamic Emirate including Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the governor of Logar, and some other Emirati officials. 

Peaking in the ceremony,

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar emphasized that efforts are underway to reduce Afghanistan’s dependence on imported electricity.

He noted that Afghanistan has significant potential for electricity production, which, if utilized, could transform the country from an energy importer to an exporter.

He also mentioned that the completion of the 40 megawatt solar power project would alleviate electricity shortages in Logar province.

Meanwhile, officials from the Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) report that over the past 11 months, energy production projects worth more than 69 billion Afghanis have been designed across the country.

Dr. Abdul Bari Omar, CEO of DABS, added that efforts to expand the electricity network to 50 districts are ongoing. Currently, projects valued at $69 million in the energy production sector are also in progress in other provinces.

The launch of the solar power project has been welcomed by the residents of Logar.
