Canada to recognize Palestine within a month

KABUL: Mark Carney, the Prime Minister of Canada, has announced Ottawa’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine.

According to Al Jazeera, Carney stated in a press conference that Canada will join the ranks of countries advocating for the recognition of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in September this year.

He emphasized that Ottawa is committed to pursuing a two-state solution through diplomatic means, but noted that this approach is currently not sustainable.

Carney added that Canada plans to formally recognize the Palestinian government during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2025.

Previously, both the United Kingdom and France, as members of the UN Security Council, have also declared their intention to recognize Palestine during the upcoming UN General Assembly session.
