Canada bans military equipment exports to Israel

KABUL: Canada’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the country has banned the export of any military equipment to Israel that could potentially be used in Gaza.

According to Anadolu Agency, citing Anita Anand, Canada’s Foreign Minister, the country will also prohibit all permits for military weapons and equipment intended for use by Israel in the Gaza Strip in 2024.

Minister Anand emphasized, “Canada has set a clear red line and will remain committed to it,” stating, “As of January 2024, we have not issued any new permits for controlled goods that may be used in Gaza. Not a single permit has been approved.”

She further clarified that Ottawa will not allow its manufactured weapons to be used in Gaza under any pretext.

Additionally, Canada has announced plans to recognize Palestine as an independent state next month.
