KABUL: Stephen Miller, a senior advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump, recently accused the Indian government of financing Russia’s war in Ukraine by continuing to purchase oil from Russia.
Reuters reported on Sunday night that it was clear to Trump that India’s ongoing oil purchases from Russia were unacceptable for funding Moscow’s war in Kyiv.
Miller expressed to Fox News that people would be shocked to learn that India is effectively aligning with China in purchasing oil from Russia, calling it a “truly astonishing reality.”
His remarks represent one of the strongest criticisms from Washington towards New Delhi.
Recently, political tensions between India and the U.S. appear to have escalated.
Meanwhile, Indian officials confirmed three days ago that New Delhi has halted its purchase of F-35 fighter jets from the U.S.
