KABUL: The Pakistani government has extended the deadline for the expulsion of Afghan refugees holding “POR” cards until September 1 of the upcoming year.
According to Pakistani media, the Afghan cardholders are expected to voluntarily return to their country by the stipulated date.
Initially, the deadline for the expulsion of “POR” cardholders was set for the end of July 2025, and there have been reports regarding their potential expulsion in recent days.
Additionally, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees has urged Pakistan to uphold its commitments regarding the acceptance of refugees by refraining from expelling “POR” cardholders.
The organization also emphasized that Pakistan should stop the expulsion of Afghan patients and students.
The statements come at a time when the return of Afghan nationals from Iran has dramatically increased over the past two months.
